What do you do when a pandemic rains on your wedding plans? Amongst the disappointment and heartfelt pain, all we wanted to do was share our vows and start our life together. We could have never guessed that our determination would have turned out the way it did. The best way we could sum it up is “When life gives you lemons…you make lemonade!”
Planning a wedding is a daunting enough task without the entire world being shut down. Our entire “mini-mony” was planned is just 2 short weeks with many non-returned phone calls, or no answer at all, that it was truly a difficult journey. Most vendors had not done an event of any kind in months and this was their first opportunity to get back to some semblance of reality.
The Wednesday before our ceremony, we caught wind of a protest taking place at the same time and vicinity near where our event was scheduled. We both wanted to be part of the Black Lives Matter movement, but we already had our ceremony planned and were determined to go through with it. We expected that the city would be a literal ghost-town as everything was still under lock-down…not the case. As fate would have it, the largest protest in Philadelphia history turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We could have never foreseen how that protest and our ceremony would have collided in such an amazing moment. Guess we got the best of both worlds in the end.
After our first look moment, we exchanged our vows as planned. Our small ceremony turned out to be everything we could have wished for and more! Within a few hours, we began getting outreach from various outlets. Unbeknownst to us, our special moment was now all over the world!
